GEAR BY AGE
12U gear: verify the transition points
Twelve can be a transition age for bat rules, field dimensions, and equipment sizing. Treat the league calendar—not the birthday—as the source of truth.

01 / BEFORE YOU BUY
Map the whole season
List the organizations and tournaments the player expects to enter, then collect each current equipment rule. Do not assume a bat that works this spring will be permitted in the next division or on every travel schedule.
02 / BEFORE YOU BUY
Recheck length, weight, and control
Growth does not automatically mean moving to the next bat size. Have the player compare manageable options with a coach after certification is confirmed. Keep the current bat if it remains legal, undamaged, and controllable.
03 / BEFORE YOU BUY
Revisit glove and position
Players settling into a position may benefit from a position-specific glove, but only if its size and pattern work for them. Confirm throwing hand, closure, wrist fit, and return terms before break-in.
04 / BEFORE YOU BUY
Measure catcher’s gear piece by piece
Youth and intermediate labels may overlap. Measure the chest, legs, and head using the instructions for the exact model. A bundled set is useful only when each component fits.
05 / BEFORE YOU BUY
Budget around likely changes
Spend first on required, correctly fitting equipment. If a rule or size transition is approaching, compare whether borrowing, team equipment, or a less expensive current-season option makes more sense than a premium purchase.

RAWLINGS
Mark of a Pro Light
11-inch • youth fit
A youth infield model with a leather shell and Pro H web. A starting point for a fit check, rather than a size prescription.
Check throwing hand and whether your player can comfortably close it.

RAWLINGS
Mark of a Pro Light 11.5
11.5-inch • basket web
The larger option in this pair uses a basket web and Youth Pro Taper fit. Compare it on your player’s hand before choosing.
This linked variant is for a right-handed thrower. Verify size and stock.

RAWLINGS
NXT Pink / Columbia Blue
11.5-inch • youth ContoUR fit
A pink-and-blue infield pattern with a narrower youth hand opening. The color stands out, but wrist security, closure, position, and break-in should still decide the fit.
The linked variant is for a right-handed thrower. Verify throwing hand, current stock, and that the player can close it comfortably.
